Your Wedding Vows with Roslyn McFarlane Marriage Celebrant
Wedding Vows
Every party to the marriage is required by law to say the Vows that are in the Monitum.
"I call on everyone present to witness that I full name take you full name to be my lawful wedded wife/husband/spouse/partner"
There is no legal requirement for the couple to say anything else.
You May be surprised to know that you do not have to say "I Do" or exchange rings.
But, most couples want to write their own vows but are unsure of where to start. Wedding vows are the promises you will make to your partner that will be the framework of the marriage you are creating.
Your Marriage vows tell of the love you share, your journey so far and the life you hope to create, and the important values you will bring to the marriage.
Your vows can be in the form of a statement, a promise, a letter, a poem, the words of a song, or simply "I love you".
They don't have to be long, just sincere and achievable.
Take heart, there are lots of examples in my resource folder which I will give to you so you can find your own inspiration or use one or more of them that says what you want to say.
Some people are terrified of speaking in public, but don't worry, I can coach you with that, or turn your vows into a question and you simply say "I do" to make it easy for you.
Many modern couples will still choose to use the Traditional Wedding Vows. - Or a more modern version of it.
"I promise to love, honour and cherish you for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others from this day forward for as long as we live. With this ring I thee wed (marry you)".
I can help you with vows for second marriages, vows to include your children and for the ring exchange.
